The main differences between centrifugal fans and axial fans


1. The centrifugal fan changes the flow direction of the medium in the air duct, while the axial flow fan does not change the flow direction of the medium in the air duct;  

2, the former installation is more complex;  

3, the former motor and fan are generally connected by belt driven rotating wheel, the latter motor is generally in the fan;  

4, the former is often installed in the air conditioning unit inlet and outlet, boiler drum, induced draft fan, and so on.  The latter is often installed in the air duct, or the front end of the air duct outlet.  

In addition, there are inclined flow (mixed flow) fans, the wind pressure coefficient is higher than the axial flow fan, the flow coefficient is larger than the centrifugal fan.  Fill the gap between axial fan and centrifugal fan.  At the same time, it has the characteristics of simple and convenient installation.  A mixed (or axial flush) fan combines the characteristics of an axial and a centrifugal fan, although it looks more like a traditional axial fan.  The curved plate-shaped blades are welded to conical steel hubs.  The flow rate is changed by changing the blade Angle in the upstream inlet housing of the impeller.  The housing may have open inlets, but more commonly it has a right-angle bending shape that allows the motor to be placed outside the tube.  The discharge shell slowly expands to slow the flow of air or gas and convert kinetic energy into useful static pressure.
